Iran Will Host First Asian Youth Alpine Event, Says Federation

TEHRAN -- Iran will host the First Asian Youth Alpine Championships, announced the Skiing Federation Sunday.

According to the federation, Iran was selected as the host in the 43rd general assembly of International Skiing Federation (ISF) held late last week in Slovenia.

Iranian Skiing Federation President Issa Saveh-Shemshaki accompanied by his deputy Farshid Alizadeh and the federation's Secretary Assadollah Shemshaki attended the assembly.

The first alpine competitions will be held on December 31-January 1, reported IRNA.

On the sidelines of ISF's meeting, the Grass Skiing Committee of the world body decided to hold the world men's and women's grass skiing contests in Dizin piste, northern suburb of Tehran, on August 21-24.

Alizadeh was reelected in the summit for two next years as the deputy for West Asia zone's skiing affairs and head of the Asian Skiing Federation's Financial and Marketing Committee.
